Meet Our Friendly Staff
Dr. Robert Dyer, DMD
Dr. Dyer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he played varsity football for four years. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, he was an Army dentist for two years at Fort Devens, MA, where he spent a year in the crown and bridge clinic and a year in the endo clinic doing root canals. After discharge, he opened a practice in Peters Township, as well as one on Carson Street in the Southside. While the Southside practice closed in 1997, he is honored that many of those patients decided not to look for a new dentist but instead to make the trek to his Peters office.
Dr. Dyer loves being a dentist and has treated patients as young as two and as old as 98. Recent research has shown a strong connection between dental disease and many other health problems, and he enjoys protecting the general well-being of his patients by improving their dental health. Dr. Dyer is grateful for the opportunity to serve new and current patients alike, some of whom began seeing him as children and now bring their own children to his office for dental care.
Carolyn Dyer
Carolyn came to work in the office 22 years ago. She graduated from Pitt with a degree in English and Psychology. She met Dr. Dyer her freshman year and married him right after graduation. They have four sons and she was happy to stay at home with them until the youngest was a senior in high school. At that time the office manager position opened and they decided she would try it. Over the years, she has become a “dental insurance expert,” and tries hard to ensure patients understand their policy’s benefits. She has completely enjoyed her years in the office and is sure that we have the nicest dental patients.
Mary Helen Barr
Mary Helen has worked for Dr. Dyer for 23 years – and that amazes him. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Grove City College, and a Master of Music degree from Duquesne University. In addition to dental assisting she is a church music director, private piano teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary Helen has two careers and loves them both. Our patients benefit not only from her skill as a dental assistant, but also from her soothing humming.
